Larval vision and social behavior
(Current Biology, 2019,2017, Nature Communications, 2013, J Comp Phys 2015, 2020,2021)
Fly larvae undergo a critical period of synaptic plasticity in which they learn to socially cooperate. We are using this as a model to understand critical period plasticity as well as how social behavior develops. We are currently examining the molecular cellular mechanisms of how specific visual synapses become plastic. In addition, we are looking at how this plasticity affects cooperative social behavior.
